Charlie Johnson
Charles (Charlie) Johnson studied at Colchester School of Art, Reading University and London University – Institute of Education.
His work in the past often made reference to the landscape of his native East Anglia, as well as travels to France and Italy. In 1987 he started to concentrate more on abstract painting. After a trip to Brazil in 1998 he began to experiment with stronger colour and more gestural application.
His current work synthesises landscape motifs with abstract patterns producing varying degrees of abstraction.
He now lives and works in Emilia Romagna in Italy. His travels to the Far East, Africa and Australia have influenced much of his recent work.
